Guo Haowen’s 42 Can’t Stop Guangdong’s OT Win

Last night in Dongguan, CBA fans were treated to a ⚡️ overtime thriller as the 11-time champs, the Guangdong Southern Tigers, edged the Nanjing Monkey Kings 107-102 in the season opener.

Guo Haowen was on 🔥, pouring in a career-high 42 points — including six triples and relentless drives to the rim. Despite his heroics, his final floater rimmed out, sending the game into overtime at 94-94.

In OT, Edmond Sumner took over, racking up 26 points and setting up Zhang Wenyi for the dagger corner three that sealed the win. Early on, Wang Shaojie’s big block led to Hu Mingxuan’s fastbreak layup that gave Guangdong control.

Guangdong overcame an injury scare when Xu Jie left before halftime with a broken brow bone after contesting a three-pointer. His early playmaking still helped build momentum.

With this 107-102 victory, the Southern Tigers roll into a Tuesday clash at Zhejiang Golden Bulls. For the Monkey Kings, Guo’s 42-point explosion is a sign of big things ahead 🚀.
