Weekend hoops alert! 🏀🔥 CBA fans got a double dose of overtime drama this Sunday, and if you missed it, here’s the lowdown on two epic matchups.
Xinjiang Flying Tigers 111-108 Fujian Sturgeons (OT)
Over in Fujian, the Tigers clawed back to stun the Sturgeons on their home court. Fujian’s Travis Trice was on fire, pouring in a game-high 41 points and dishing 12 assists to help his team build a seven-point lead in Q2. With head coach Liu Wei out for personal reasons, assistant coach Kang Jung-soo stepped up—and Xinjiang refused to back down.
Qi Lin put up 26 points, including 19 after halftime, before an ankle sprain late in Q4 forced him out. Sensing the momentum shift, Trice nailed a clutch jumper to tie it at 102-102 and send the game to OT.
In extra time, Xinjiang’s Elfuratt Mohetaner and Abdusalam Abdurexit combined for 30 points (nine in OT) to lock in the 111-108 win. Talk about stepping up when it counts! 🙌
Guangzhou Loong Lions 108-106 Tianjin Pioneers (OT)
Not to be outdone, the Loong Lions needed OT to tame the Pioneers. Li Xiangbo’s thunderous dunk set the tone, but Javion Hamlet kept Tianjin alive with 16 of his 20 points in Q3. Down by ten heading into Q4, the Pioneers roared back thanks to Lin Ting-Chien’s 15-point explosion, forcing OT at 96-96.
Overtime belonged to Lindell Wigginton, who poured in 15 of his team-high 26 points (including two clutch free throws) to seal back-to-back wins for Guangzhou. 🎉
These matchups proved once again why the CBA is the place to watch high-flying basketball. Who else is already counting down to next game day? 👀
