On Monday, January 12, 2026, China’s aerial ace Li Xinpeng clinched his very first FIS Freestyle Aerials World Cup gold in Lake Placid, USA! 🥇 With a flawless run scoring 137.19 points, he soared past the competition in the final World Cup event before next month’s Winter Olympics.
The finals kicked off under heavy snowfall. Four athletes from China—Li Xinpeng, Li Tianma, Wang Xindi, and Sun Jiaxu—all reached the second round. Sun Jiaxu attempted a back full-double full-double full (difficulty 5.1) and scored 107.10 points, even with a tough back landing 🤕.
Wang Xindi went next, landing most tricks smoothly but missing the perfect finish, yet still grabbing silver with 112.00 points. Finally, Li Xinpeng nailed every flip and twist to perfection, sealing his gold. Canada’s Miha Fontaine took bronze with 107.73 points.
Li’s breakthrough win is a major confidence boost as he gears up for next month’s Winter Olympics in February. Stay tuned for more freeski action! ❄️⛷️
