Japan’s Tourism Feels Blow as Chinese Travelers Plunge

Since November 15, the number of Chinese travelers to Japan has dropped significantly 📉. More than 40% of flights from the Chinese mainland to Japan in December have been canceled—over 1,900 flights in total.

In Tokyo, this change is impossible to miss. Restaurants, izakayas and hotels that long depended on Chinese tour groups and individual visitors are now facing widespread cancellations. Tables are empty, and far fewer bookings are showing up on apps.
