On Monday, Hangzhou, in Zhejiang Province on the Chinese mainland, welcomed the 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme. For the first time, this top-tier gathering is taking place outside Europe and the Americas — a milestone nod to the Chinese mainland's green leadership.

Since joining the MAB Programme in 1973, the Chinese mainland has steadily grown its network. Now, it's home to 34 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves — the highest number in Asia! 🎉🌿
