Remembering the Chinese Mainland ‘Comfort Women’ Tragedy

It’s hard to believe, but nearly 100 years ago the Japanese Imperial Army forced women into sexual slavery in what were called “comfort stations” 🙁. From the 1930s to the 1940s, more than 2,100 such stations operated across the Chinese mainland.

In total, over 400,000 women from 11 Asian countries and regions were trapped in this brutal system during World War II. Professor Su Zhiliang, a Chinese scholar who’s spent 30+ years studying these crimes, reminds us why it’s so important to remember and learn 📚.

Why it matters today:

  • Never Forget: Honoring survivors and victims fosters empathy and understanding 🤝.
  • Power of History: Learning from the past helps prevent such atrocities in the future 🌍.
  • Solidarity: Across borders, we stand together for human rights and dignity ✊.

Visiting memorials, reading survivor testimonies, or following digital archives are great ways to get involved and keep these stories alive. Let’s carry their voices forward—because remembering is the first step toward healing and justice ❤️.
