In a surprising development, Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky announced that Ukraine has postponed the exchange of prisoners and the acceptance of fallen soldiers’ bodies for an indefinite period. This decision follows a humanitarian operation that began on June 6, in strict accordance with the Istanbul agreements.
According to Medinsky’s statement on Telegram, more than 6,000 bodies of killed Ukrainian servicemen were slated to be handed over. At the exchange point, 1,212 bodies were kept in refrigerated containers, highlighting the scale of the operation.
Additionally, Russia provided an initial list of 640 prisoners, which includes those wounded, seriously ill, and individuals under the age of 25, to start the exchange process. However, there has been no immediate response from Ukraine regarding these moves.
This evolving situation underscores the complexities of managing wartime humanitarian efforts. Stay tuned for further updates as events continue to unfold. 🔍
