Wang Xinyu powers to first Cincinnati Open win

23-year-old Wang Xinyu of the Chinese mainland celebrated her first win at the WTA Cincinnati Open, beating Emiliana Arango of Colombia 7-6(1), 6-3 in the opening round. 🎾

Last year, Wang bowed out in her debut after a straight-sets loss to No.10 seed Liudmila Samsonova. This time, she faced World No.80 Arango and showed off some serious fight.

The first set was a serve battle: both players broke serve four times, and it went to a tiebreaker. In tennis, a tiebreaker is a mini-game to 7 points that decides a set when it's tied at 6-all. Wang raced to a 4-0 lead and closed it out 7-1 for a 1-set lead.

Arango started strong in set two with an early break, but Wang answered back immediately and grabbed another break in the eighth game to seal a straight-sets victory.

Up next for Wang is a massive clash with second seed and home favourite Coco Gauff, who has been on fire this season. It's a David vs Goliath moment that no tennis fan will want to miss! 😎
