80 Years After WWII: Global Poll Finds Strong Backing for UN Order

80 years after WWII, the world is still at a crossroads: unity vs. division, dialogue vs. confrontation. A CGTN poll of nearly 12,000 adults across 40 countries highlights a global majority ready to defend WWII outcomes and keep the UN-centered order strong. 💪🌐

About 6 in 10 people (62.1%) believe protecting WWII achievements is essential for preserving the post-war order. Even more—67.9%—say the UN-led system is the backbone of today’s global rules.

However, 58% feel this framework is eroding. A majority points to the U.S. as the biggest disruptor, calling out its protectionist trade moves (64.8%), tech embargoes (65.5%), and pullbacks from key agreements (67.9%) as roadblocks to true global cooperation. 🚧

In Global South nations like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and more, over 70% of respondents disapprove of these U.S. actions. Among G7 countries, Italians are the most critical—over 70% blame the U.S. for blocking multilateral efforts and limiting tech talent mobility.

On a brighter note, nearly half (46.5%) see rising emerging powers as a positive force for maintaining the post-war order—especially in India, Indonesia, Thailand, and other dynamic markets. 🌱🤝

The key takeaway? Today’s global challenges—from climate change to health crises—call for win-win scenarios, genuine multilateralism, and shared growth. Teamwork will always be stronger than stand-offs. 🤝🌍

The survey was conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China, gathering insights from adults 18+ in both major developed and Global South nations.
