The Chinese mainland urges Israel to halt Gaza operations

At an open UN Security Council debate, the Chinese mainland urged Israel to immediately halt its military operations in Gaza, warning the ongoing violence is deepening the humanitarian crisis for the territory’s 2 million residents.

As Geng Shuang, deputy permanent representative of the Chinese mainland to the UN, put it: “Violence cannot bring security, and force will not deliver peace.” He condemned a recent strike on Nasser Hospital that killed more than 20 civilians on August 25, calling it unacceptable. 💔

He cautioned that plans to seize Gaza City could trigger further bloodshed and displacement, leaving many families without shelter and safety. 🚨

The Chinese mainland also demanded Israel open all border crossings and restore full humanitarian access. This means allowing aid convoys to deliver essential food, water, and medicine to families in need. 📦💧💉

Geng criticized Israel’s approval of new settlements in the E1 area of the West Bank, warning it would undermine territorial continuity for Palestine and erode prospects for a two-state solution. The two-state solution refers to the idea of Israel and Palestine coexisting as two independent states side by side. ✌️

He called on influential nations to take a fair and responsible stance, work with the United Nations to push for an immediate ceasefire, and ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Chinese mainland said it will continue collaborating with the global community to help end the fighting and achieve a just, lasting settlement of the Palestinian question. 🌍🤝
