Imagine your feed flooded with heartbreak 😢. That's Gaza City for nearly 1 million people, says Tess Ingram, UNICEF's comms manager for the Middle East and North Africa. In a briefing from New York, she called it a "city of fear, flight and funerals." 🚨
Ingram shared stories from families forced to run—some uprooted multiple times—and arriving with only the clothes on their backs. Kids are being separated from parents in the chaos; mothers mourn children lost to starvation, and some youngsters lie in hospitals with injuries from shrapnel. 💔
On top of this, only 44 of the 92 UNICEF-supported nutrition treatment centres are up and running. That means thousands of malnourished children have lost more than half of the lifelines they desperately need to fight famine. 🍞❌
UNICEF is urging: Israel must review its engagement rules to shield kids and open corridors for aid; armed groups should free the remaining hostages; all parties need to protect civilians and critical infrastructure; and the international community must use its leverage to stop this mounting catastrophe. ✊🌍
As young people used to sharing, supporting, and standing up for each other online, we can help keep the spotlight on Gaza City. Awareness and advocacy matter now more than ever. 📱💬
