Six Killed in Jerusalem Bus Stop Attack

In a chilling incident in Jerusalem on Monday morning, two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a bus stop near Ramot Junction in East Jerusalem, killing six people – a woman and five men – and wounding at least six others, according to Israeli authorities. 😔

Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service reported 38 patients rushed to local hospitals, most with light to moderate injuries. Footage from the scene showed shattered bus windows and chaotic scenes of commuters fleeing during the morning rush hour, with first responders describing broken glass everywhere. 🚑

Citing security officials, state-owned Kan TV news identified the attackers as Palestinians from Qatanna and Al-Qubeiba villages in the Ramallah Governorate in the occupied West Bank. They were armed with a handgun and an improvised submachine gun. No group has claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he was holding a situation assessment with senior security officials, while the European Union condemned the attack and called for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza. “We condemn this attack, just as we condemn all loss of lives,” EU spokesman Anouar El Anouni said.

The attack comes amid nearly two years of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and rising violence by settlers in the occupied West Bank, alongside an uptick in Palestinian attacks on Israelis. 🕊️
