Hey fam! From Mumbai to Manila, the UN's new move against Iran is trending faster than your fave K-drama cliffhanger! 📺 Here's the lowdown…
Snapback Sanctions: The Basics
On Sept. 27 at 8PM EDT, UN arms embargo and nuclear-related sanctions from 2006-2010 kicked back in. Britain, France & Germany pushed for this after accusing Iran of breaking the 2015 deal. Iran says it's all illegal & vows a harsh response. Russia calls it unlawful.
What's on the Block List?
- Arms embargo: no import/export of weapons 🚫🔫
- Nuclear ban: stops uranium enrichment & reprocessing ⚛️
- Missile ban: no materials for ballistic missiles 🚀
- Travel bans & asset freezes on dozens of officials 💼✈️
- No supplies that could help Iran's nuclear work 📦
Global Reactions
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas says the bloc will act without delay. Israel calls it a major development to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran. Iran has recalled ambassadors to Britain, France & Germany for consultations and threatens to defend its rights.
Meanwhile, Europe & the US stress that diplomacy is still an option if Iran returns to direct talks in good faith.
