On Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, a deadly attack rocked the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester 😢.
Witnesses reported a car being driven into members of the public outside the synagogue, followed by a stabbing. Armed officers arrived on the scene and shot the suspect, who later died. Sadly, two worshippers lost their lives.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed no further risk to the public as they cordoned off the area. A video shared online showed the tense moments inside the synagogue’s perimeter.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer left the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen early, expressing horror and calling the attack "all the more horrific" due to its timing on Yom Kippur 🙏.
In our fast-moving world, this tragedy underscores the need for compassion, solidarity, and standing against violence. Let’s uplift communities and spread unity over hate 💙.
