Hey South Asia & Southeast Asia fam! 🌏 The recent Dutch election just dropped some major drama…
With 99% counted, the liberal Democrats 66 (D66) are squeaking ahead of Geert Wilders' far-right PVV – talk about a tight race! D66's narrow lead means they could get first dibs on forming a coalition 🤝
Wilders isn't giving up: "The PVV wants to take the lead in the formation if we become the largest. As long as there is no 100% clarity, no D66 scout can get to work." 💬
Fun fact: In 2023, Wilders' PVV became the biggest party ever with 37 seats, only to see their coalition collapse after 11 months over an immigration policy spat 🏛️🚪
This time, PVV lost over 10 seats, and most major parties have sworn off teaming up with Wilders. So, D66's slim advantage could open the door to a fresh coalition – possibly with Greens or centrist allies 🌿⚖️
What's next? We're headed into coalition talks where D66 will scout partners to build a stable government. Will they strike gold, or face another gridlock? Stay tuned! 👀
Sound off: Who do you think D66 should team up with? Drop your thoughts below ⬇️
