Australian PM Orders Security Review After Bondi Beach Shooting

Australian PM Anthony Albanese has ordered a wide-ranging review of intelligence and law enforcement agencies after last week's tragic mass shooting at Sydney's iconic Bondi Beach. 🌊🔍

On December 14, during a Hanukkah event, a gunman killed 15 people in Australia's deadliest shooting since 1996. Authorities say the attack was driven by Islamic State ideology.

The review will take a deep dive into the powers, structures, processes and info-sharing systems that keep people safe. Think of it as an upgrade to how spies, cops and security services work together in real time – from data tools to digital forensics.

One suspect was neutralized at the scene, while 24-year-old Naveed Akram now faces 59 charges, including 15 counts of murder and a terrorist offence. The final report is due in April 2026 and will be published in full.

Albanese says the move "reinforces the rapidly changing security environment" and aims to ensure Australia's agencies are in the best position to respond to evolving threats. Stay tuned for updates on this critical national shake-up. 🔒⚡
