Japan Confirms 11th Bird Flu Outbreak in Hokkaido Farm 🐔

🚨 On December 29, 2025, Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries confirmed a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak at a poultry farm in Yuni Town, Hokkaido. This is the 11th bird flu incident reported this season.

🐔 At the affected farm, over 6,000 egg-laying chickens have been culled. According to official guidelines, all birds on-site must be culled, incinerated, and buried to prevent the virus from spreading.

📍 To contain the outbreak, farms within a 3-kilometer radius are under a strict no-movement order for chickens and eggs. Those within 3–10 kilometers cannot transport poultry products outside the designated zones.

❄️ Japan's bird flu season typically runs from autumn through spring. Since the first case was recorded in Hokkaido on October 22, 2025, nearly 3.65 million chickens have been culled across the country.

🌏 For consumers and food service pros in South and Southeast Asia, this reminder highlights the interconnected nature of our food supply. Keeping tabs on outbreaks can help you make informed choices, whether you're enjoying a fresh tamago sando in Tokyo or a comforting bowl of ramen!
