China urges Netherlands to reverse Nexperia move to stabilize chip supply

In a recent call, a spokesperson from China's Ministry of Commerce urged the Netherlands to immediately correct its “mistakes” over Nexperia, aiming to remove hurdles to a stable global chip supply. 🌐💻

This year, the Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans took control of Nexperia, a Dutch subsidiary of Wingtech. The move was meant to prevent the founder from shifting company secrets and production facilities to mainland China.

Responding to Karremans’ defense of the decision, the Chinese spokesperson said, “China has repeatedly stressed that the Netherlands’ improper administrative intervention in Nexperia’s internal affairs has already disrupted the global semiconductor supply chain, for which the Dutch must bear full responsibility.”

They added that the Netherlands has “remained indifferent and stubbornly insisted on its own way, showing absolutely no responsible attitude toward the security of the global semiconductor supply chain.”

For tech fans across South and Southeast Asia, chip supply stability isn’t just industry talk—it affects the price and availability of your smartphones, laptops, EVs, and more. ⚙️📱

As the global tech community watches, the Netherlands faces growing pressure to ease restrictions and keep microchips flowing smoothly. Stay tuned for updates on how this tug-of-war could shape the next wave of gadgets and innovations! 🚀
