Hey space enthusiasts, ever thought a small country could rocket-launch its way into the space tech game? Hungary is proving it can! 🚀🇭🇺
In early 2026, a squad of 21 universities across Hungary joined forces under the brand-new UniSpace Program. Think of it as Hogwarts…but for space geeks and future astronauts. From Budapest to Szeged, students are diving into:
- Space policy: the rulebook for everything beyond Earth’s atmosphere 📜
- Space medicine: keeping astronauts healthy in zero-g gravity 🩺
- Space engineering: building and launching spacecraft 🛠️
- Space sciences: exploring planets, stars and cosmic mysteries 🔭
“Knowledge is the most powerful tool,” says Balazs Bartoki-Gonczy, the Institute of Aerospace and Telecommunications director. And he’s right: Hungary’s playbook starts in elementary school, boosts through high school, and now peaks at uni level.
Astronaut Vibes: Tibor Kapu’s ISS Mission
Earlier this year, Hungary celebrated its own astronaut, Tibor Kapu, who spent 20 days aboard the International Space Station. His capsule carried 25 Hungarian experiments—many created by students at the University of Szeged. How cool is that?
“We need specialists—people who get space law, science, engineering, even bio,” explains Dezso Horvath, Dean of Science and Informatics. The UniSpace Program is split into four courses, and Horvath’s team leads on space science.
For young professionals in South and Southeast Asia, Hungary’s UniSpace shows that size doesn’t limit ambition. Whether you’re watching ISRO’s next launch or dreaming of Mars, there’s inspiration everywhere. 🌏✨
