New Palestinian Tech Committee Arrives in Cairo to Prep Gaza Governance

This week, all 15 members of the newly formed Palestinian technocratic committee ✈️ arrived in Cairo to kick off preparations for administering the Gaza Strip. Meetings are underway at Egypt’s capital as the team, headed by veteran engineer and former deputy planning minister in the Palestinian Authority, Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath, plots the next steps.

The committee’s arrival follows the U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff’s announcement of phase two of the Gaza ceasefire, which has been in effect since October 10, 2025. Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye spearheaded this initiative, aiming to strengthen stability and improve humanitarian conditions in the enclave. However, an Egyptian source says their trip was delayed by a day due to Israeli obstruction.

Despite the fragile truce, clashes still flare along the “Yellow Line” — a buffer zone meant to protect troops but often unclear on the ground. Gaza health authorities report 451 deaths and 1,251 injuries since the ceasefire began, with civilians caught in crossfire and airstrikes hitting residential areas.

Looking ahead, Washington is expected to unveil a “peace council” to oversee the ceasefire’s implementation and support Gaza’s reconstruction efforts. The technocratic committee’s focus will include reopening border crossings, coordinating aid distribution and laying the groundwork for longer-term governance.

For Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, these developments offer cautious hope amid ongoing hardships. As young professionals and social media users, staying informed and sharing credible updates can help amplify the region’s humanitarian needs 🌍🤝.
